Felicia Design works with the following stones
Diamonds
Diamond are the most popular of all gemstones. They are also among the highest valued precious stones, and they take millions of years to form. Diamonds are so hard, they can only be cut or polished by another diamond. Most diamonds are colorless, but yellow, brown, green, gray, black, pink, blue, red and purple diamonds can also be found. Diamonds are measured in carats - the higher the carat weight and purity level of a stone, the more valuable the gem.

Precious Gemstones
Precious stones are defined as visually appealing gemstones created from rocks or minerals. Often used for jewelry and fashion accents, this term was created in the mid-1800's to refer to four specific stones; diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. All precious stones are translucent and are valued by the richness of their color, except for the diamond.
Semi-Precious Gemstones
Any gemstone that is not a diamond, ruby, emerald or sapphire is a semi-precious gemstone. Felicia Design does not like the term semi-precious gemstones because it is misleading. Some semi-precious gemstones can be extremely rare and be more beautiful and expensive than some ‘precious gemstones’. However, since this ‘semi-precious’ label is widely used, we will use it. Semi-precious gems include pearls, garnets, peridots, amethysts, citrines, blue topaz and turquoises.
Synthetic and Artificial Gemstones
Synthetic gems are physically, optically and chemically identical to the natural stone, but are created in controlled conditions in a laboratory. We would like to stress, that synthetic stones are not imitations. Synthetic (lab created) corundum, including ruby and sapphire are very beautiful and cost only a fraction of the natural stone. Lab-created stones tend to have more vivid colors, as impurities are not present and do not modify the clarity or color of the stone, unless they are added intentionally for a specific purpose.
Glass
Glass has also been used to imitate gemstones and composite stones. However, we recognize that various ornaments have been made of, or decorated with glass for example beads, bangles, finger rings, brooches, pendants and necklaces. Glass has been used for jewelry since ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire and of course in Venice. Some glass, like the Murano Glass made on the Venetian Island of Murano, leads many technologies including crystalline glass, enameled glass (smalto), glass with threads of gold (aventurine), multicolored glass (millefiori), milk glass (lattimo) and imitation gemstones made of glass. Glass is a valuable option to provide quality and value to production.
